SOLUTION

The owner, Rook, had been perfecting his hot sauce for years on his own and wanted a brand that reflected the time and care he put into his recipes. He actually did not want to be included in the branding process and said he wanted to leave all the branding decisions up to me. The product had to feel appropriate for a farmer’s market so I wanted everything about it to feel handmade and homegrown. Since I had total freedom in the process I decided I wanted to start with creating a handmade illustration, then create the rest of the brand elements by hand in the same style as that illustration. This ensured that the brand would be authentically handmade and led to a unique small batch product.
